Udawalawa

Udawalawe is a town in southern Sri Lanka, best known for the Udawalawe National Park. Established in 1972, the park spans approximately 308 square kilometers and is renowned for its abundant wildlife, particularly its large population of Asian elephants. Visitors can embark on safari tours to see elephants in their natural habitat, along with other animals such as leopards, deer, water buffalo, and a variety of bird species. The park's diverse landscapes, including grasslands, forests, and wetlands, provide a rich environment for wildlife. Udawalawe is also home to the Elephant Transit Home, which rehabilitates orphaned elephants before releasing them back into the wild. The town and its national park offer a captivating experience for wildlife enthusiasts and nature lovers.
