Anuradhapura

Anuradhapura is a historic city in north-central Sri Lanka, known for its rich cultural heritage and well-preserved ancient ruins. It was the first capital of Sri Lanka, serving as the political and religious center from the 4th century BCE until the 11th century CE. Anuradhapura is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, renowned for its impressive stupas, ancient monasteries, and intricate stone carvings. Key attractions include the sacred Bodhi Tree (Sri Maha Bodhi), the Ruwanwelisaya and Jetavanaramaya stupas, and the rock-cut statues of the Samadhi Buddha.
